There are two pieces of Walt Disney World related news that I want to share with you today. One is fact, and the other is more like fact-based speculation.
First, the fact. A new place to get chicken is going to be coming to Disney Springs in August. It’s called Chicken Guy! and the “guy” in question is celebrity chef Guy Fieri. He’s once again working with restauranter Robert Earl, the two collaborated on some of the menu items that are found at Planet Hollywood Observatory. Chicken Guy! will of course sell fresh chicken, and there will be 20 different types of house made sauces. Chicken tenders can be grilled or fried, and there will also be salads, fries with Guy Fieri’s signature seasoning, loaded fries, and more. Chicken Guy! will also be where you will find Flavortown Frozen Treats. This will feature hand-spun soft serve in delectable creations such as Mint Chocolate and Cinnamon Apple. There will be delicious toppings for the treats, as well as fresh whipped cream. Chicken Guy! will be located near Planet Hollywood Observatory.
The other bit of news that I want to share is based at Epcot. According to the Orlando Sentinel, “electrical upgrades” have been budgeted for, to the tune of $1.8 million. This money will be used in and around World Showcase Lagoon. This news has sparked rumors that IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth could be on the way out, and that Disney is making plans for a replacement. There have been rumors of the end of IllumiNations floating around for years, but with the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary coming in 2021 it could make sense that a new show is in the works. IllumiNations is the oldest nighttime show at any Disney Park on the planet, and many people think that it’s time for it to retire. If I hear anything concrete, I’ll let you know.
