Unraveling the TRON Clues

Update: opening April 4! I tried…

We’ve known for a while that TRON Lightcycle / Run will open this spring at the Magic Kingdom. The problem is that spring begins on March 20, and runs until June 21. That doesn’t narrow it down enough! Disney Parks added a clue on Facebook, which I shared on the Disney Over 50 Facebook page. Here’s what I think is going on.

The first thing that I did was look at the final numbers. There are two that say 2023. Row number 10 says “CM 04,482,023.” If you break the number into dates you have 4/4-8/2023. CM stands for Cast Member. My guess is that the Cast Member Previews will be held April 4-8.

The other line that ends with 23 is row number 2. That one starts with US, and the number is 13,212,023. US could stand for United States, as in the US version of TRON. I took the rest of the number backward. Take away the 2023 from the end, and you have 1321. Add together the one and the three, and you have 4/21. It sounds like TRON Lightcycle / Run will open on April 21!

The rest of the rows are just fun extras. Row five is the date that the Magic Kingdom first opened, while row six is the opening date for Disneyland. Shanghai Disneyland opened on June 16, 2016, which is the number in row number nine. Row four is Jeff Bridges’ birthday. He played Kevin Flynn in TRON. Row seven is the release date for TRON. TRON Legacy was released on December 17, 2010, row number three.

I needed help for the final two, so I cheated and read the comments on the original Facebook post. The consensus is that row one is the all time top score for TRON. Row eight is stats for the light bike. I’m not sure if that’s what they are, but it makes sense to me!

Remember, this hasn’t officially been announced by Disney, but the dates make sense. If I’m right then Passholder Previews will probably take place at some point after April 8. Some people think that TRON Lightcycle / Run will open on March 21, but that seems unlikely. Cast Member Previews almost always come before a ride opens, followed by Passholder Previews. The exception to that was Toy Story Land, but that was because they were tight on time. TRON Lightcycle / Run is all but finished.

When we have the official announcement, I’ll let you know on Disney Over 50. Follow along on Facebook and Instagram so that you don’t miss it!
