Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind; What I’ve Gathered So Far

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open to the public on May 27. I know that people have questions, and I’ve been trying hard to find out some of the answers. Cast Members are currently in the preview stage, plus I’ve talked to a couple of Imagineers about the ride. Here is what I’ve gathered.

The main question is about the intensity of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The Imagineers told me that it’s family friendly, and that if I can handle Slinky Dog Dash that I will be able to handle Cosmic Rewind. They weren’t comparing the rides, just comparing the intensity level. I’ve also seen part of the track. Normally, seeing a track freaks me out (I refused to look at the track for Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure at Universal before I rode it because I wanted to ride it so badly, and I love that ride) but from what I saw the Cosmic Rewind track is more twists and turns than an intense roller coaster.

There is a 42 inch height requirement for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. By comparison, that is two inches less than Space Mountain and two more than Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Even Avatar Flight of Passage has a higher requirement, at 44 inches. Over at Universal, you must be at least 48 inches to ride the aforementioned Hagrid’s.

Several Cast Members have remarked about how smooth a ride Cosmic Rewind is. There is a small amount of spinning, but it is not like Mad Tea Party. One Cast Member described it more as “rotating”.

There is a backward launch that has been said that it is tamer than the backward part of Expedition Everest. There are no major drops, maybe a slight dip or two.

None of the Cast Members who are large have had a problem fitting into the seats. One who described herself as “fluffy” said that the seats were comfortable. There is plenty of legroom, so tall people will also be able to ride easily.

There are screens, but the ride is not 3D. There have been some people who said that they did have slight motion sickness after riding, but that it didn’t last long.

Most likely Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will use a Virtual Queue when it first opens. This was mentioned by Disney weeks (maybe even months) ago, but since then there has been silence on the subject. I expect that it will also be an Individual Lightning Lane option, but that is a guess on my part.

One final thing. Every Cast Member whose review I’ve read has been blown away by the ride. Some have said that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the best ride that they’ve ever been on.

That’s what I’ve been able to find out so far. I’ll keep searching for information, and if I find anything useful I’ll share. I’m a wimp when it comes to rides, but I can’t wait for my Comic Rewind Passholder Preview! Once I ride, I’ll share my experience with you.
