Some Tips for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, 2019 Version

Happy Halloween!

I was invited to attend the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2019. I was part of a media group that was hosted by Disney. Instead of doing a recap, I thought that it would be fun to share a few tips on getting the most out of the party this year.

We’re going to split the treasure…

My first tip is simple; go! There is something special about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I am not a Halloween person, but this is one of my favorite events each year. Maybe that’s why I like this party so much. I’m not a fan of blood, gore, and scares, and you won’t find those at Disney.

Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular

Give the new fireworks a chance! The show is really impressive. I loved Happy HalloWishes too, but I was really impressed by Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular. I want to see it again.

The beginning of the candy…

Don’t skip trick or treating, even if there are no kids in your party. Disney is for the kid in everyone, and the candy is included in the price of your ticket, so you might as well go for it! If you have an allergy, ask for a teal bag. You’ll then collect tokens, which you can turn in for allergy friendly treats.

Minnie is ready for Halloween

If you plan to get pictures with the characters, get in line early. Some of the lines were manageable, but the lines for the rare characters such as Jack and Sally or all seven dwarfs did have longer waits.

Boo to You!

Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade is back. There are some new characters, but it’s as much fun as ever. The first parade is usually more crowded than the second one. There are also often more open spots in Adventureland. What I’ll do is walk the parade route and keep an eye on the crowd level as I go. I’ve often been able to find a gap close to the parade’s start time.

Stop by Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor for a few jokes

Once again there are party-only enhancements for Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Space Mountain. Do all three. You might also want to stop by Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. This is a trick or treat station, but they also have a makeshift show going on. The doors remain open so you can stay, or you don’t have to.

Cruella is enjoying her hideaway…I think

Cruella’s Halloween Hideaway Party costs an additional $99. We were hosted for that as well. You can come and go as you please from 9:30 until 12:30. There are appetizers, desserts, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages included in the price. You can also meet Cruella DeVil. If you want something more than just candy, this could be for you!

Who won’t smile when they see this?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select evenings until November 1. It is a separate ticketed event, and you can buy your tickets online or at any Walt Disney World ticket window. If you’re an Annual Passholder or DVC member, a discount is available.
