In late 2018 Mickey and Minnie Mouse both turned 90, but the party is still going strong! At the Magic Kingdom the fun is known as Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration. There is plenty going on, but not enough to distract you from everything else that you want to do at the Magic Kingdom. It’s a really good balance.
There are some must-dos if you want to join in on the celebration. The first is Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party. This is pretty cool. It starts off like a parade on Main Street, U.S.A. There are dancers, stilt walkers, and floats with classic Disney characters. Mickey and Minnie are on one float, and when they get to the area in front of Cinderella Castle, everyone stops. It then turns into a street party, with live music and more dancing. The characters all stay on their floats, but they do join in on the fun. After a few songs the street is cleared of guests and the floats start to move again. Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party is held at least twice a day during the celebration.
Another must-do is meeting Mickey and Minnie in Town Square Theater. Minnie usually greets in the back of the park, but she’s temporarily joined her main squeeze so that they can celebrate their birthdays together. (They have the same birthday and the same last name, what are the chances of that?) If you can get FastPass+ for this meet and greet, you might want to grab it. They’re dressed in their party outfits, and this is a limited opportunity.
If you love characters, you’ll love the characters that are part of Limited-Time Magic. Some usually hard to find classics have been appearing. We saw Prince John and Friar Tuck the day that we were there, but we didn’t have a chance to get a picture. Next time.
Remember that Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration runs through September 30. You are not going to want to miss out on the fun.
