Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event that takes place at the Magic Kingdom on select evenings through October 31. I hadn’t been in a couple of years, so my daughter and I decided to check it out once again on Friday, September 18.
With your Not-So-Scary ticket, you can enter the Magic Kingdom at 4:00, even though the party doesn’t start until 7:00. We’re Annual Passholders, so having a few extra hours wasn’t really important to us. We arrived around 5:15, 45 minutes before the park officially closed. By this time, there was no wait to scan in.
Once you arrive, you’ll get a wristband, and then pick up your trick or treat bag. My daughter has a dairy allergy, so she got a teal bag, which allowed her to get safe treats. (The regular bag is cute and well made. The teal bag…not so much.) More on that in a little bit. You’ll also receive your first treat of the night.
With Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you need to pick and choose what is most important for you to do. You’re not going to do it all. There were characters on some of the trick or treat trails this year, and seeing those was a priority for us. We love the characters on the trails at Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure, so we were excited that we could experience something similar at home. These were fun! We saw the Hitchhiking Ghosts, Maleficent, the Queen, and Pirate Goofy. The lines looked long, but they moved quickly. The characters were a nice addition to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
There are lots of other spots without characters to trick or treat as well, so expect to leave with a lot of candy. As I mentioned, my daughter has a dairy allergy. They’re handling allergies a little bit differently this year. You receive a teal bag instead of the regular one, that part is the same. Instead of tokens like in the past, you may receive a roll of Smarties in the trick or treat lines. Don’t worry, there’s more candy for those with allergies. There are two places that are allergy friendly; one in Liberty Square and the other in Tomorrowland. The spots have different options. Cast Members are on hand to make sure that you get safe treats. If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to return a couple of times, because they were kind of stingy with the candy.
The fireworks show Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular takes place at 10:00 each party. We had planned to watch it a bit on the side, but we found a decent viewing area with a full view of Cinderella Castle. It’s a great show, but Happy HalloWishes will always be my favorite.
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade runs twice each party, weather permitting. We chose the 11:15 parade because it’s less crowded. We were able to find a spot in Frontierland about 20 minutes before. I like watching in Frontierland because that’s where it starts. The Cadaver Dans were walking through the area, entertaining the crowds. The Country Bears were also out and about. A few minutes before the parade is the ride of the Headless Horseman, which is always a treat. He won’t ride if it’s been raining, for safety reasons.
There’s some fun extra entertainment as well. Powerline Max was dancing it up in Storybook Circus. Lilo, Stitch, and Angel led a party on the Tomorrowland Stage. We only caught part of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Here’s a tip. The final show is at midnight, which is when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ends. Watch it then and let the crowd clear out a bit. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular won’t take place if it’s been raining.
We decided to skip the photo opportunities this time around. Disney Jollywood Nights is the special ticketed event where we take lots of character pictures.
We did get in quite a few rides, with little or no wait. We ended our evening with TRON Lightcycle / Run. The sign said 20 minutes, but we were off in less time than that. To the woman in front of us in line, I hope you loved it!
We had a great time at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Even though it was sold out, most of the time the Magic Kingdom didn’t feel overly crowded. We’re already planning on returning in 2027!
