Tropical Storm Gordon

As I write this, Tropical Storm Gordon is starting to make itself known. Walt Disney World is not supposed to take a direct hit from this storm, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t feel the effects.

Most days in the summer there are storms here in Central Florida. Those storms will bring heavy rain and lightning, and then they’re gone as quickly as they moved in. My advice for summer storms if you’re at Walt Disney World is to duck into a store, restaurant, or hit an indoor attraction. Gordon is not going to be like that.

Walt Disney World rarely closes, and it is doubtful that Tropical Storm Gordon will make much of an impact here. Remember, though, that this is not going to be the type of weather that you can hide from by grabbing a meal. There will most likely be a fair amount of rain over the next 24 to 36 hours, and there could also be strong storms.

If you are at Walt Disney World, make sure that you listen to Cast Members. There could be severe thunderstorms and tornadoes from this storm. You can still have a great time, but make sure that you play it safe. There is no magical bubble over Walt Disney World that will keep the storm away. Just be careful.
