There has been flooding unlike anything that I’ve seen in my over 12 years of living here, and more flash floods are possible. My family and I are safe and there was no damage to our home (thank God!) but our internet is still giving us problems, so I’m going to make this short.
I have not heard of any major damage from Hurricane Ian at Walt Disney World. According to WKMG, parts of Walt Disney World received over a foot of rain. Disney’s Hollywood Studios alone received over 11 inches. Most of Walt Disney World is closed right now. As of 3:30 today, Walt Disney World is expected to reopen on Friday, September 30 as a phased reopening.
Photo courtesy Twitter user @youngie88There are reports of flooding at Universal Orlando Resort. There is also reported damage to the Jurassic Park River Adventure ride. According to the official website, Universal will most likely reopen tomorrow. Update: Universal Orlando Resort will begin a phased reopening on September 30. Learn more here.
SeaWorld Orlando will not be open on Friday, September 30. The same with Busch Gardens Tampa. Both should reopen on Saturday, October 1.
If you’re flying in or out of Orlando International Airport, check with your airline. OIA flight operations have been suspended, and the airport is inaccessible by car because of flooding in the area. The roads leading to the airport are closed.
There is no update on Sanford Orlando International Airport. The last update stated that it would be closed through September 29. Tampa International Airport is scheduled to resume operations at 10:00 AM on September 30. Check with your airline if you’re flying in or out of either airport, just to be safe.
The good news is that the weekend forecast looks incredible. There’s little chance of rain Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, and the high temperature each day will be in the 80s.
