A Quick Guide to the Holiday Announcements

Christmas will be here before we know it!

Right now at my house it’s 92 degrees, with the heat index at 102. Yesterday I was in a Christmas in July mood, with the holiday being five months away. I think I’ll continue dreaming about cooler weather and write up a quick guide to what we know about the 2021 Holiday Season at Walt Disney World. It begins on November 12, except where noted. This is a 101 Guide, just the basics. There will be more information I’m sure in the coming weeks.

Magic Kingdom

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is not taking place. Instead, you will be able to buy tickets for Disney Very Merriest After Hours. It will take place on select dates between November 8 and December 21. Tickets will be available sometime next month. Also, the projections will return this year on Cinderella Castle, there will be no Holiday Dream Lights.

Epcot

The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays is returning. It will run from November 26 until December 30. There has been no mention of the Candlelight Processional or the storytellers. Voices of Liberty will return, I love their holiday show! There will also be Holiday Kitchens, and the Cookie Stroll will take place again.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Sunset Seasons Greetings will be back! Last year there were projections on the Hollywood Tower Hotel, but it wasn’t the full show. The holiday ending will return for For the First Time in Forever. Minnie’s Seasonal Dining at Hollywood & Vine will switch to the holiday theme.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Tree of Life Awakenings will take place most nights. The character cruises will have a holiday theme. I was hoping for the return of Merry Menagerie butt it looks like that isn’t happening.

Disney Springs

The Christmas Tree Stroll will take place instead of The Christmas Tree Trail once again. There will be trees all over Disney Springs with different themes. There could be some new trees this year! There will also be extra holiday entertainment.

Disney Resorts

This one is kind of tricky. According to Disney Parks Blog, “select gingerbread displays will once again be part of our holiday season”. No specific displays or resorts have yet been stated. The Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian was not mentioned, which isn’t a good sign. That takes months to build, and if they had started I think that Disney would have said something. I hope I’m wrong.

There will also be plenty of holiday themed merchandise for sale all over Walt Disney World. There will be extra seasonal treats as well. I’ll give more information once it becomes available. On a day like today, I am definitely ready for the holidays!
