It was nice of Disney to add a giant five to commemorate the anniversary! March 7, 2023, is Disney Over 50’s Fifth Anniversary! While some of the content goes back a little bit before that, I chose March 7 as the official launch date in honor of my mom’s birthday. She would have been 97 today.
The main reason that I started Disney Over 50 is that my sister and brother-in-law were planning a trip with their kids and grandkids, and they couldn’t find a lot of the information that they wanted. So much of the info out there is aimed at 30-something parents with 2.4 children! When I realized how much my emails helped my sister, I thought that maybe others would find some of the information useful as well.
I strive to provide solid, factual posts here. If I share a rumor with you, I’ll tell you that it’s a rumor. I also will provide official sources for news and other information whenever possible. I try to add links to the source, but I’m only human and sometimes I do forget. I apologize for that.
There are some sites out there that tend to put down Disney at every turn. There are others that don’t have anyone who lives close to Walt Disney World, so they don’t have firsthand knowledge. I don’t want to be like that here at Disney Over 50. I live less than three miles (as the crow flies) from Walt Disney World, so I’m able to visit often and share my findings with you.
I also try my hardest to make Disney Over 50 a happy place. You don’t move this close to Walt Disney World if you don’t love it! That’s not to say that I won’t point out flaws. There are things that I don’t like, and things have gone wrong. Overall, though, the magic far outweighs the missteps.
There’s been an unexpected bonus with Disney Over 50. It’s become a community, especially on Facebook! I never expected to make friends through this site, but it’s happened. I’m very proud of this little group.
Disney Over 50 will never be a gigantic site, and that’s okay. I’d rather provide you with quality information that will be helpful to you than add a lot of fluff. I run the site mostly by myself, with the help of my Disney-buddy daughter. It’s a labor of love.
The motto for Disney Over 50 is “Because there is no age limit on loving Disney”. There is also no age limit on Disney Over 50. While I started the site with a certain age range in mind, I try my hardest to add things that most people will find useful, no matter what their age! You don’t have to be over 50 to follow the site. If you haven’t already, please like or follow Disney Over 50 on Facebook and Instagram. That gives me a sense of what information people find useful and ideas of what I should share in the future.
