November 17 is a unique day in Star Wars history. On November 17, 1978, The Star Wars Holiday Special aired for the first and only time. Fans didn’t want to wait until 1980 for more Star Wars! The Star Wars Holiday Special told the story of Chewbacca, who needed to get home to his family to celebrate Life Day. The main original cast returned, and there were guest stars. The Star Wars Holiday Special was a cheesy musical, and it’s something that many think George Lucas wants to forget. The bright spot was that Boba Fett was introduced during the cartoon in the middle. The Star Wars Holiday Special has never been released on VHS or DVD, and it is not available on any streaming service. It is usually possible to find on YouTube. I’ll add one below under the pictures, although it might be taken down by the time you read this.
