Cosmic Rewind ride vehicleThere’s a rumor going around that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open on Memorial Day Weekend. This very well could be true, but I’m going to file it under the rumor category until it is confirmed by Disney. The Walt Disney World website still has the new coaster listed as “Opening Summer 2022”.
The rumor came about because of a tweet by Geoff Morrell. He is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of The Walt Disney Company. On February 22, Morrell allegedly tweeted that he had just ridden Cosmic Rewind, and then said something about others being able to ride on Memorial Day Weekend. The tweet didn’t stay up long, and has since been changed to “coming soon”.
I did not see the original post, I’ve only seen screenshots of it. And as I said, Cosmic Rewind very well might open on Memorial Day Weekend. But there could be other reasons for what he said.
It could be that Cast Member previews will start Memorial Day Weekend. It might be Passholder Previews. It is also possible that Morrell had the wrong information. How many of us have accidentally said “Memorial Day” when we meant “Labor Day”? I know that I have.
I still wanted to let you know that there is a possibility that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open at Epcot on Memorial Day Weekend. But I will keep it as rumor until there is an official announcement from Walt Disney World.
