A New View of Harmonious

I love this show

I’ve been lucky enough to see Harmonious at Epcot several times. I love it more each time I see it. I recently realized that I had always watched it from the same spot, near the entrance to World Showcase at the front of the park. When my daughter and I went on Super Bowl Sunday, we decided to watch from a totally different angle. I am so glad that we did.

What I’ve always liked about the front of Epcot is that you have a clear view of the Stargate (the circle) in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon. The Stargate becomes a water screen, and there are projections. I wrongly assumed that you needed to see those projections to experience all that Harmonious has to offer.

On Super Bowl Sunday, we watched at the end of the United Kingdom Pavilion, before the Joffrey’s kiosk. We were right next to the reserved viewing area for wheelchairs and scooters. We could see the Stargate, but couldn’t see the projections. It didn’t matter.

Maybe it’s because we were experiencing Harmonious from a different spot so it felt brand new, but I think I preferred it from this area. It felt so much bigger! We could still see some projections because the taco-shaped structures have them. The projections are not my favorite part of the show. I didn’t miss seeing them in the center.

It’s so big!

What I liked about watching Harmonious from the side is that we paid more attention to the other water effects. When I was concentrating on the Stargate, I missed out on a lot. There were also incredible reflections from the World Showcase Lagoon water that I had never experienced before.

There’s so much going on!

The fireworks were glorious from the new spot as well. The water effects and the fireworks complement each other beautifully.

The view from the bridge

The next time we watch Harmonious, I’m going to find another new spot. I think that this show is similar to IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in that you’ll have a different experience in each place that you watch from. I’m curious about the bridge between the United Kingdom and France…
