How About Park Hopper?

Is it time to bring back Park Hopper?

I’ve been talking a bit lately about things that have been put on hold for the time being. I’ve mentioned both FastPass+ and Extra Magic Hours. How about Park Hopper? Should that be brought back in the near future?

In my opinion, now is not the time to bring back Park Hopper. As long as the Disney Park Pass System is in effect Park Hopper is not going to work. If we need to make reservations for a park, it is going to be only one park per day. There really isn’t any way around it.

I guess that the Disney Park Pass System could evolve a little bit. Maybe people could visit a park and then when they leave cancel the reservation and make another same day reservation for a different park. I don’t see that happening, but that is the only way that I can imagine Park Hopper returning right now.

Some people have suggested a system where the hours are limited in a park, and then people could Park Hop. Instead of the current system, you could make a reservation for one park in the morning and another in the afternoon. For example, you could stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom from 8:00 until noon, and then head to the Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day. It would be impossible to police such a system. And what if you were in line for Expedition Everest, only to discover that your time is up and you’re supposed to be on the other side of Walt Disney World? It would be a mess.

I am not thrilled with having to make reservations to visit a theme park, but I think that the system is working for now. The early kinks have been worked out, and things are running much more smoothly than at the beginning. I miss spontaneity, and I do miss Park Hopping. That said, I’m glad that Disney is still limiting capacity. Not allowing Park Hopping is one way to do that. Park Hopper is a huge moneymaker for Disney, but they are putting safety first. I look forward to the day when things will return to some semblance of normal, but at the moment I appreciate the measures that Disney has taken to keep guests safe.
