This Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Anything

Some people are freaking out because of this

I have seen a potentially useless bit of information shared in several places over the past couple of days that has many people worried. I thought that I would address it, because at this point it doesn’t mean anything, but many people are jumping to conclusions.

Florida Residents have more options for Annual Passes than those who live out of state. Some of those passes include blockout dates. There is a calendar on the website that lists which days each type of pass is good for. The calendar right now shows dates through June, 2021. This is what has people worried. The guide for the dates has two choices. Gray means blocked out, while green used to say something like “Good to Go”. Now it says “Reservations Required”. Many are jumping to the conclusion that guests will still need reservations to get into a theme park at this time next year.

I don’t think that reservations will be here to stay. Instead, I think that Disney is just being cautious. If they were to have a date when it no longer said reservations were required and then they moved that date back, they would receive a lot of backlash. It is better to change things to a more positive note than to have to change something back to a negative.

It could be that reservations will still be required a year from now, no one knows for sure. These are uncertain times, and while it looks like progress is being made on a vaccine, we still have a long way to go. Disney is being careful, and I, for one, appreciate that.

One more word about reservations. We do not know when the reservation system will be up and running. I know that a lot of people are frustrated, because they are having a hard time planning their vacations. Believe me, when reservations are finally available, that information will become widely known, and quickly. The parks reopen in less than a month. It won’t be that much longer until we have more information.
