Decisions, decisions!Recently I told you that the FastPass+ Tiers were changing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I also mentioned that we didn’t yet know how Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway would factor into the changes. Well, we now know. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the third Tier One attraction! The new ride opens on March 4.
I am not a huge fan of the FastPass+ tiers, but I think that this is fair. The three Tier One choices will be Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Slinky Dog Dash. You will be able to pick one of the three in advance, your other two choices need to be from Tier Two.
People who are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort can make FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance, and for everyone else with a ticket linked to their My Disney Experience account it’s 30 days. Some people who are staying on property will be upset right now, since the opening of the Mickey-themed ride is less than a month away, and they’ve already made their plans. That’s understandable, but it is possible to change a selection if there are any spots still available.
Each time something new is added at Disney’s Hollywood Studios the dynamic of the park changes a bit. People are already lining up well in advance of the park’s opening time to snag a spot for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It will be interesting to see if those people will then head immediately to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, or if they’ll try for Slinky Dog Dash.
Whatever happens, no one can call Disney’s Hollywood Studios a half-day park anymore! If I were planning a Walt Disney World vacation, I’d probably give it two days. Then again, it’s always been my favorite park, even when there were more construction walls than rides.
