Disney’s Hollywood Studios is turning 30!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 30 years since Disney-MGM Studios opened its gates to the public. The official anniversary is May 1, and Walt Disney World is planning to celebrate! We already knew that something special was going to take place, and more details have been announced.

At 10:00 on the morning on May 1, 2019, Mickey and some of his friends will be in a special cavalcade. This will take place on Hollywood Boulevard. No details have been given about how long the parade will be or if it will pay homage to the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade that took place from 2001 until 2008. (I loved that parade.)

If you’re at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that day, make sure you pick up a commemorative pin and guide map. There will also be special merchandise for sale. Guests can purchase T-shirts, hats, tumblers, and more. The merchandise will be unveiled on May 1, which means it will most likely be available after that date. There will also be some Passholder exclusive items.

There will of course be special food offerings for the celebration. These will include Tres Leches Verrine, Kylo Ren Cupcakes, Incredibles Macarons, and other tasty treats. According to Disney Parks Blog, there will be plenty of delicious choices.

May 1 will also be the official debut of the newest nighttime show at Walt Disney World. Wonderful World of Animation will be a projection show that features clips from Coco, Sleeping Beauty, The Incredibles, and more. It will last about 12 minutes, and will take place before Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. The new show will reportedly begin and end with Mickey, since it all started with a mouse. Wonderful World of Animation replaces Disney Movie Magic, which is on the Walt Disney World schedule through April 30.

I’ll be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on both April 30 and May 1, so I’ll be adding pictures and information during the celebration. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is my favorite park, and the future is bright. It’s been a great 30 years, and this is just the beginning. I for one am really excited about the future.
