Epcot News! IllumiNations Replacement and More

IllumiNations will end its run next summer

We’ve been given the first bit of solid information about what is going to replace IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot. Bob Chapek, who is Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, has announced that a new show will start in 2020. From Disney Parks Blog:

“This new show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.”

The still-unnamed show will not debut until 2020, but IllumiNations will finish its run next summer. That does not mean that Epcot will be without a nighttime show for several months. Instead, next fall a limited run show called Epcot Forever will fill the gap. (I can’t be the only one to find it ironic that a show with the word ” forever” in the title is slated for a limited run.) It will feature classic Epcot related songs, as well as fireworks, lasers, and “special effects kites”.

That’s not the only news that Chapek has released about Epcot. The ride based on Ratatouille that is coming to France will be called Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. A Beauty and the Beast singalong is also coming to France. No dates were given for the openings. Also announced is that they are currently updating the O Canada! show in the Canada Pavilion.
