There are two bits of news that I would like to share with you concerning the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. The first is official, and the second is a rumor that has a strong possibility of being true.
First the official news. If you’ve driven past Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort lately, you can’t help but notice the new tower that is being constructed in the front. I’ve enjoyed watching the progress, but I don’t have any recent pictures because I’ve always been driving when I’ve seen it. But I digress. The new building will be called Gran Destino Tower, and it will open next July. Gran Destino Tower will feature 545 rooms, a two story lobby, and a table service restaurant at the top. Since Disney’s Coronado Springs is a Moderate resort, I’m sure that rooms will go quickly when reservations open for Gran Destino Tower.
The rumor has to do with the Star Wars themed resort that is being built near Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This information comes from WDW News Today. Make sure you read the whole article here. Part of the idea of the resort is that guests will be surrounded by all things Star Wars during their stay. To make that possible, they will be transported by shuttle from the resort to a back entrance of Galaxy’s Edge. Security will be handled at the hotel, not at the entrance. It also looks like the luxury resort is going to be small, it could have as few as 64 rooms. Check out the full WDWNT article. It includes pictures of the plans.
