It looks like this might be the last few days for Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre. I first heard about it from WDW News Today. Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and offers parasailing, tubing, wake boarding, personal water crafts, and more.
I haven’t been able to find any official word, but I did a little bit of digging. It looks like the last day of operation will be Friday, August 31. Operating hours are listed on the Walt Disney World website through Friday, but on September 1 there’s a “no times available” message. I checked the Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre Facebook page but that hasn’t been updated since June. The official website hasn’t been updated in a while as well, in fact, it claimed that they were hiring for the “spring and summer months”. One thing on the website seems to confirm the closure. You can book reservations online, but they are only available through August 31.
It does not seem that the closure of Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre will affect Curl by Sammy Duvall at Disney Springs. That store features surf and skate apparel. It is also where you can purchase painted TOMS.
There is no word on whether or not another company will take over Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre, or if Disney might run it themselves. If it closes all together it will be a shame, it’s a great place to spend an off day from the parks.
