This is a great addition!I love Walt Disney World during the holidays. It’s my favorite time of year. While there is magic around every corner, each park has something that truly tugs at my heart. I thought it would be fun to share these with you over the next few days.
My favorite offering at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is brand new this year. It’s known as Merry Menagerie. You will find it during the daylight hours when you get to Discovery Island.
Merry Menagerie is a series of puppets. These puppets represent animals that people tend to associate with winter and cold weather. You will find polar bears, penguins, foxes, baby seals, birds, and other animals.
While it is really cool to see a polar bear walking around Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it’s the puppeteers who make this experience so special. They are great at controlling their puppets and really making it seem like they are living animals. They will have the puppets interact with each other, and they will also spend plenty of time with the guests. More than once I have had one of the animals stick its face in my camera as I’ve tried to take a picture. Each time I forgot for a moment that it was a puppet.
There are a couple of different groups of animals, so this is something that you might want to see more than once. You could see a fox and some penguins when you arrive, but then an hour later it’s polar bears and birds. I’ve been a couple of times and I still don’t think that I’ve seen all of the puppets.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has really stepped up for the holidays this year. You can find special touches all over the park. Merry Menagerie is my personal favorite. I have a feeling that others will enjoy it as much as I do.
