Things are starting to fall into place as far as reservations for the Disneyland version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are concerned. We already knew that you will need a reservation to visit the new land between May 31 and June 23. There will be no standby to get into Galaxy’s Edge those dates, a reservation is required. We also knew that anyone staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels will automatically receive a reservation slot. Those emails are starting to go out. I’ve heard that some of them have the wrong date on them, so if you received one check again tomorrow because you might receive another email.
The big question has been when will people who aren’t staying at one of the Disneyland Resorts will be able to make reservations? It looks like the day will be May 2. Disney Parks Blog promises to release more information about making reservations at 8:00am Pacific Time on that date, which would be 11:00 for those of us on the East Coast who rarely have to figure out time differences.
There is no cost for a Galaxy’s Edge reservation, but it also does not include theme park admission. You’ll still need to pay to get in. There are still openings at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, even for opening day. (Anyone have a couple thousand that I can borrow?) You’ll need a My Disney Experience account.
At this time, it does not look like a reservation system will be used at Walt Disney World when our version of Galaxy’s Edge opens on August 29. That could change, I don’t know. My guess is that they will see how things work in California before making that type of decision for sure. Since Walt Disney World is so much bigger than Disneyland, the process would be a lot more complex.
When the announcement is made on May 2, I’ll be sure to add the information here. If anyone is planning to head to Disneyland for the opening or right after, I’d love to hear about it. And when there is any new information about the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version of Galaxy’s Edge, you know that I’ll share it here.
