If you’re staying on property, you can make your reservations 60 days in advance, for the rest of us it’s 30 days. For some people, the 60 day mark strikes fear in their hearts. What if you can’t get that hard to get reservation? Don’t worry, all is not lost.
First a word or two about the 60 day mark if you’re staying on property. You can book all of your FastPass+ 60 days out from the first day of your trip. That means if you have a four day ticket, you can book all 64 days in advance when your window opens. Many people will pick Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the last day, since that will give them the best chance of nabbing Avatar Flight of Passage. That’s currently the hardest FastPass+ to obtain. If you’re not staying on property, you’ll book one day at a time.
If you don’t get what you want, all is not lost. Keep checking. People give up FastPass+ reservations all the time, so something might come open. I’ve been able to get same day FastPass+ reservations for some of the most popular rides, so you might be able to grab something.
Special Ticketed Events such as Early Morning Magic and Disney After Hours can help you to ride the most popular attractions without a wait. For Early Morning Magic, you’ll also need a theme park ticket, but you don’t with Disney After Hours. If either of these are available when you’ll be visiting, it might be worth the cost. I’ve attended Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land and Disney After Hours at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I was amazed by all that I was able to do.
Arriving at the park before it opens is another option if you weren’t able to get a FastPass+ reservation for something that you really want to ride. If you’re staying on property, hit the park that has an Extra Magic Hour that morning. If you’re not staying on property, avoid the Extra Magic Hour park, because there will already be a crowd when you arrive.
Remember that the newest rides at Walt Disney World often have the greatest queues. If you have to go standby, pay attention to the details. You’ll walk through a lab for Flight of Passage and through your childhood on Slinky Dog Dash. The lines really are amazing.
There is plenty to do at Walt Disney World. You’ll have a magical time, even if you never ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Frozen Ever After. Don’t fret about what you don’t do, and instead enjoy what you do actually experience. It’s hard to get bored at Walt Disney World.
