Many people will not consider traveling without their furry best friend. I can very well understand that. Before our beloved Princess crossed over the Rainbow Bridge we wouldn’t travel without her. (We named her Princess after her mother, not the Disney princesses, but that’s beside the point. If you’re looking for a new pet, adopt from a local shelter!) Just because you’re visiting Walt Disney World does not mean that you need to find someone to take care of your dog, or you need to stay off property. There are now options.
There are currently four different Walt Disney World resorts that have dog friendly rooms. They are The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. You can have up to two dogs per room, and there is an extra fee. At this time dogs are the only animals allowed.
If you have an RV or a camper you can stay at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. You need to make a note on your reservation that you will be bringing a pet, because there are specific areas that are pet friendly.
The other alternative is to leave your pet at Best Friends Pet Care. They offer both day and overnight boarding. Dogs, cats, and many other pets are accepted. This is considered the Grand Floridian of kennels. Your furry best friend will be pampered and loved while you are apart. There are live pet cams so that you can see how your other family member is doing throughout the day. You will also be able to enjoy your vacation, because they take very good care of the animals at Best Friends Pet Care. This is the place that is trusted by many locals when they go on vacation and can’t bring their pets.
One final word about pets and Walt Disney World. Don’t try to sneak your pet into your room. You will get caught.
