Last night I was lucky enough to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Here are a few tips I thought I’d share with you.
Arrive early! Your ticket will allow you into the park at 4:00. That will give you a chance to stare at the tree in awe for a little bit, plus you can get pictures of the decorations without wasting party time.
Your map will have A Frozen Holiday Wish at 8:15. You can also catch the show at 6:15, but that isn’t listed on the map because it’s before the party officially starts. Catch this show, even if you’re not a Frozen fan. It’s really cool to watch Cinderella Castle transform. I watched at 6:15, so it didn’t take any of my party time away from me. I also livestreamed the show, you can find it on the Disney Over 50 Facebook page.
The party last night was sold out, and that led to long lines at the cookie stations. These lines moved really fast, so don’t be put off by them. At Pinocchio Village House they were handing out a bunch of cookies each trip, so if you’re not sure where to start but your sweet tooth wants something, this is a good choice.
If you have an allergy, ask for allergy friendly cookies. I was disappointed in the selection this time; there wasn’t any. My daughter is allergic to dairy, and the only cookies that they had for her this time were mini chocolate chip cookies by Enjoy Life. JUST Cookie Dough was there the night before, but not for our party. The snowman pretzels are also allergy friendly.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is a great place to see characters. The song doesn’t get stuck in my head as badly as Boo to You does at Halloween. In fact, that’s running through my head right now.
Holiday Wishes is special. I love Happily Ever After, but this has a simplicity to it that puts a smile on my face. You can find the livestream from the fireworks and the parade on the Disney Over 50 Facebook page as well.
As much as I would love to, I don’t do the characters at the parties because the lines are so long. That made it even more fun when Tigger walked by and blew me a kiss, at least I had some character interaction.
If you like dance parties, there are three at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas parade. If you have some preschoolers in your party, take them to Storybook Circus. The Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jingle Jam has Vampirina. If you don’t know who she is, then you probably won’t want to walk all the way back to Storybook Circus to dance with her.
I love Main Street, U.S.A. during the party, but it gets crowded. The crowds die down a bit after the fireworks, so that’s a good time to enjoy the decorations and the “snow”.
Let your map be your guide. That’s the best way to know what is going on, and where. You don’t want to waste part of your party time trying to figure out what to do, so pick up a map when you enter and look it over right away. Look at the map after you’ve stared at the tree in awe, of course.
