Normally on Sundays, I share ways to save on a Disney vacation, or give information on a contest where you might win something fun. Today, I’m going in a different direction.
After Thanksgiving we have Black Friday, and then Cyber Monday. Both of those have to do with finding low prices. Giving Tuesday is the opposite. It’s a reminder that it’s more blessed to give than to receive.
One of my favorite charities is Give Kids the World. They provide Orlando area vacations to Wish kids and their families at no cost. I’ve been to Give Kids the World Village countless times, and it’s incredible. It’s a destination that’s filled with hope, love, and laughter, for kids and their families who need it because of unthinkable circumstances.
This Giving Tuesday, donations to Give Kids the World will be doubled. That means that every dollar donated will go twice as far. If you’ve been looking for a worthwhile charity, please consider it.
Giving Tuesday doesn’t have to be only about money. Times are tough right now, and I know that many people are just scraping by. If possible, give a few hours of your time to a worthwhile organization near where you live. Time is our most precious commodity, and giving a little bit of it to help others can make such a difference.
There’s one more thing I’d encourage you to give, and not just on Giving Tuesday. Give someone a compliment. A simple “I like your hair” or “thanks for all your hard work” can go a long way. We never know what someone else is going through. A few nice words can really turn someone’s day around. A compliment can be one of the best things to give all year long, and it doesn’t cost anything.
