How has it been 30 years since Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas was released? The fact that the anniversary falls on Friday the 13th somehow makes it even better.
I remember seeing commercials for it and wondering what it was all about. The Nightmare Before Christmas is still hard to describe, 30 years later! Is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? You can also make a strong argument that it’s a Thanksgiving movie. Of course, the perfect word to describe Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is classic. A classic movie on a special anniversary means that there has to be celebratory merchandise. Here are the details from Disney Parks Blog.

Celebrate 30 Years of ‘Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas’ with New Merch, Offerings
by Sam Hendricks, Communications Specialist, shopDisney & Disney store North America
The first time I watched Disney “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” as a child, I immediately fell in love with the fantastical characters and songs from the film. Like many fans, this film has been a part of my life since it was released three decades ago, and I’m so excited to celebrate its 30th anniversary today, on October 13.
There are all kinds of frightfully festive activities taking place this month to celebrate the anniversary, including screenings of the film in theaters across U.S. and Canada and a sing-along version of the film streaming now on Disney+.
I personally am a merch girl (have I mentioned I collect Oogie Boogie plush?), so I am most looking forward to all the frightfully fun new goodies to commemorate the film’s anniversary. And in honor of this milestone taking place on Friday the 13th, I’ve put together a list of my 13 favorite products and offerings to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Kids will be the life of the afterlife party in Jack Skellington’s iconic pinstripes with this authentic costume from shopDisney. It makes the perfect ensemble for Halloween or for your next watch-along party of the film.
The perfect ensemble calls for the perfect accessory. Carry all your ghoulish goodies in The Nightmare Before Christmas Loungefly Mini Backpack, which features artwork of Jack Skellington’s face that changes expressions from a frown to Jack’s signature skeleton grin. In addition to shopDisney, guests can also find the backpack at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
Another accessory you’ll love is this Zero Watch by Citizen, featuring Jack Skellington’s beloved ghost dog. The watch is cased in stainless steel, with a black leather band for a timeless look that stays in-style for Halloween and beyond. Citizen Eco-Drive technology converts any source of light into usable energy to power the watch, ensuring you’ll never be late for your Halloween and Christmas festivities.
No monsters will dare hide under your bed when you cozy up in these PJs! Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Costume Long John Pajama Sets from Hanna Andersson come in kids and adult sizes in patterns inspired by Jack Skellington and Sally’s outfits. Even your furry friends can join in the fun in a comfy set of dog pajamas featuring Zero.
You didn’t think there’d be a big milestone celebration like this without some collectible pins, did you? The Jack Skellington and Toys Mini Jumbo Pin and Jack Skellington, Sally and Mayor Pin feature the Pumpkin King and other favorite characters from the film, along with the phrase “30 Years of Nightmares.” The Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas 30th Anniversary Pin Set includes three pins—Jack Skellington on his snowmobile, the Mayor of Halloween Town in his hearse, and Lock, Shock, and Barrel in their walking bathtub—all showcased in a commemorative coffin-shaped box. All these pins and more are available now on shopDisney, and the jumbo pin and pin set can also be found in Disney Parks.
Collectors will also love this zoetrope two-vinyl set of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” soundtrack featuring beloved songs like “This is Halloween,” “What’s This?” and my personal favorite “Oogie Boogie’s Song.” Though I’ll admit, I might get a bit distracted from singing along, as I’ll be too mesmerized by the zoetrope art as the vinyl spins on my record player!
I love a nice, big coffee table book filled with pages of beautiful art. If you feel the same, you’ll be eager to add “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Visual Companion: Commemorating 30 Years” to your library. This one-of-a-kind retrospective takes a deep dive into the making of the classic film through new interviews with the filmmakers and never-before-released art and photography.
Looking for the perfect Halloween centerpiece? What’s this? What’s this? It’s just what you’re looking for! Jack Skellington rides right into your home on his snowmobile “sleigh” carrying a sack filled with toys for ghouls and boys on this fully sculpted figure created for the film’s 30th anniversary. Find it now on shopDisney and at Disneyland Resort.
You can also collect this 30th anniversary limited edition doll set releasing Oct. 30 at 8 a.m. PT on shopDisney and in Disney Parks, inspired by the memorable moment from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” when Sally sews Jack Skellington’s “Sandy Claws” suit. The keepsake assortment includes two detailed dolls with interchangeable faces, two Jack Skellington outfits, a Zero figure, a scenic display stand, and a certificate of authenticity, all within an elegant window display box.
Displayed right next to my aforementioned collection of Oogie Boogie plush is my collection of Disney Munchlings, and this adorable limited edition mini plush from the Specialty Treats Collection is sure to be the next addition! Available now on shopDisney and in Disney Parks, Jack Skellington has never looked sweeter as a cinnamon cupcake mini plush with Zero reimagined as an adorable cupcake topping. It even comes with a Little Sidekick Buddy plush depicting… pumpkin sauce, of course!
Speaking of cuddly plushies, these Jack Skellington and Sally Gift Sets from Build-A-Bear are too cute to resist! Each set comes with a plush and an outfit as well as a sound chip so you and your new plush friend can sing along to one of the memorable songs from the film. Sing along to “This is Halloween,” with Jack Skellington and “Sally’s Song” with Sally simply by pressing your plush’s paw.
This one’s for the hardcore fans! Take your Halloween decorations to the next level and bring the Pumpkin King to life with this 13-ft. Animated Jack Skellington. You read that right. This giant figure is 13 feet tall, towering over anyone who approaches. It also has an animated head and mouth, making the figure even more lifelike as it sings three different melodies from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Fortnite fans, prepare yourselves for Fortnitemares! The Pumpkin King Set, featuring Jack Skellington’s outfit, Zero back bling, Jack’s Sled glider and more haunting items are all materializing in the Fortnite Item Shop later this month!
Have fun celebrating the 30th anniversary of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” everyone. And here’s to many more years of frightfully fun nightmares!
