One casualty of the closure because of coronavirus was Ample Hills Creamery at Disney BoardWalk. Not long after the parks reopened the sign was taken down. That doesn’t mean that the space is staying empty. A new ice cream option has quietly opened in the same spot.
Called BoardWalk Ice Cream, the new spot feels exactly like Ample Hills did. Not a whole lot has changed on the interior except maybe for a fresh coat of paint. The menu features some of the ice cream creations that are found at Beaches & Cream. That’s not a coincidence. According to the Walt Disney World website, the sundaes are inspired by Beaches & Cream. You can also get hand scooped ice cream that’s not part of a sundae. The ice cream itself is nothing special, but it still tastes good.
You’ll have to have good timing if you want to enjoy a sweet treat from BoardWalk Ice Cream. It’s closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Saturdays and Sundays it’s open from noon until 10:00pm. The other days of the week the hours are 3:00pm until 10:00pm.
What was nice about Ample Hills Creamery and will be nice about BoardWalk Ice Cream is the location. It’s a short walk from the International Gateway Entrance to Epcot. You can leave the craziness of the theme parks for a while without taking too much time out of your theme park day. This is a great new option.
