If you don’t live in Florida and you aren’t a DVC Member, you only have one choice when it comes to Walt Disney World Annual Passes, the Disney Incredi-Pass. If you’re DVC or a Florida Resident, you can buy a Disney Sorcerer Pass. Disney Pirate Pass and Disney Pixie Dust Pass are also available to Florida Residents. These three passes come with something that the Disney Incredi-Pass doesn’t have; Blockout Dates.
I know several people who have the Disney Pixie Dust Pass. It’s blocked out on weekends and peak days. Still, for $399, the Disney Pixie Dust Pass will pay for itself in no time!
There’s a lot of confusion about what Annual Passholders can and can’t do when they are blocked out, so I thought that I would address it here. Since these levels of Annual Pass were created to save you money, I thought that my Sunday Savings Series is the perfect place to talk about this.
If you’re blocked out of the theme parks, you obviously can’t go into one of the four theme parks that day without paying for an extra ticket. That is really all that you aren’t allowed to do.
You will still receive free theme park parking if you are blocked out. Want to park at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and ride the Disney Skyliner? Do it! Need to talk to someone at Guest Relations? Park at a theme park and walk to the GR window outside of the park. Feel like watching the fireworks from the Transportation & Ticket Center? Not a problem, you’ll be allowed to park, even if you’re blocked out. If you’re attending a special ticketed event on a day that your pass is blocked out you can still park without a fee.
Your discounts are also still good on blockout days. You can shop to your heart’s content at Disney Springs. Book a meal at an eligible resort restaurant and still receive the discount. Play a round of miniature golf or rent a bike. You can see the current list of Annual Passholder discounts here.
One thing that you can’t do is book a meal inside a theme park and hope that they’ll let you in because you have a dining reservation. If you’re blocked out, you’re blocked out.
If you added the Water Park and Sports option to your Annual Pass, you will have even more that you can do on blockout dates. Those dates do not apply at the water parks! You’re also not blocked out for golf, footgolf, or miniature golf, but check the regulations before heading out.
As you see, there’s still a lot that you can do with a Walt Disney World Annual Pass, even if you are blocked out. You can learn more about the different Annual Passes here. If you buy a pass and realize that you bought too low, you can upgrade. You’ll be charged for the entire upgrade, it won’t be prorated for the amount of time that you’ve already had the pass.
