Walt Disney World has released details on how the line will work when Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens on May 27. The information isn’t just for opening day, it’s for the foreseeable future. If you’d like to know what to expect from the ride, you can read what I learned from Cast Member previews here.
Disney had hinted before that Cosmic Rewind will use a virtual queue, and that has been confirmed on the Walt Disney World website. You’ll be able to enter the Virtual Queue and ride only once per day.
The times for the Virtual Queue have not been announced, but most likely it will open at 7:00 each morning and again at 1:00 each afternoon. This is how it worked for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Both rides have since dropped the Virtual Queue. When times are officially announced, I’ll let you know. Spots will go within seconds. You will need a Disney Park Pass Reservation for Epcot in order to grab a spot.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will also be an Individual Lightning Lane option. Most likely, Individual Lightning Lane will go as quickly as spots in the Virtual Queue. The price hasn’t been given. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance costs $15 for Individual Lightning Lane, for a point of reference. There’s no word on if Cosmic Rewind will affect Remy’s Lightning Lane status. Currently, that ride is an Individual Lightning Lane option.
If you want to ride standby, you’ll be out of luck for a while. When it opens, there will be no Standby Line for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
I have friends who have ridden Cosmic Rewind, and some of them say it’s the best ride at Walt Disney World. It opens to the public on May 27. There is a 42 inch height requirement. I have my spot for Passholder Previews, and I can’t wait!
