Easter is this Sunday, and I know that many are spending a few days at Walt Disney World for Spring Break. If you are one of them and still want to attend a religious service, here are a couple of options.
It has been confirmed by PlanDisney that there will be a Catholic Mass on April 17 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. According to PlanDisney, it will take place at 8:00 on Easter morning. In past years there was also a nondenominational service at 9:15, and another Catholic Mass at 10:30. The other two were not mentioned this year by PlanDisney, so ask at your hotel before heading that way. The services take place in the Fantasia Ballroom.
One thing to keep in mind is that you will not be allowed to park at Disney’s Contemporary Resort if you aren’t staying there or have breakfast dining reservations. Your best bet would be to park at the Transportation & Ticket Center, and then take the resort monorail. If you’re using Disney transportation from a different resort, take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then walk to the Contemporary. Give yourself plenty of time, and expect the service to be crowded.
The Disney Resort hotels are also sharing information on local services. The picture above was taken at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on Thursday, April 14. You’ll need to find your own transportation if you plan to attend in person. Online options are also given.
If it’s a sunrise service that you’re looking for, my personal favorite is back this year. Local radio station Z88.3 has once again partnered with SeaWorld Orlando for the Easter Sunrise Service at SeaWorld. The past two years a virtual service was held, so it will be nice to go in person again. Worship will be led by Hope Darst, and the message will be delivered by Dr. Pete Alwinson. You can make a reservation on the information page in the link above, but it doesn’t state anywhere that reservations are required. It does say that a reservation will not guarantee a seat.
There is no charge to attend the Easter Sunrise Service at SeaWorld. Parking is free as well. Attending the service will not get you into the park for the day. It will also not get you free parking for the whole day. The parking lot is cleared after the service is over. The service begins at 6:30, and the parking lot will open at 4:15. Plan to arrive early, because this event is usually full. Leave your bag in your room or car, because bags won’t be allowed.
