Walt Disney might have changed the face of entertainment, but he is not the only one. Much of what we currently see on our screens, read, or even daydream about is because of Stan Lee. Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure makes sense, because it’s a combination of the visions of two people who changed the world.

Stan Lee would have turned 100 this December. Sadly, he died in 2018, at the age of 95. I had the privilege of seeing him accept the Disney Legends Award at the D23 Expo in 2017. It was less than a month after his wife of 60 years had died, and no one would have been surprised if he decided not to attend. Instead, he accepted the award with a speech filled with dignity and grace.

Avengers Campus is now dedicated to Stan Lee, as it should be. He has been honored with a plaque that states:

We dedicate Avengers Campus to the incomparable Stan Lee.

“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt a real superhero.”

Thank you, Stan, for inspiring the hero within each of us. You have made us all True Believers.

There is a new generation of children who are finding their inner heroes, in part because of what Stan Lee started. He taught people of all ages to think outside of the box, and that being different also means being special. That’s an important lesson for every generation.

I think that Stan Lee would have been proud of what has been accomplished at Avengers Campus. With characters that he created and situations from his mind around every corner, it offers guests a chance to experience Marvel in a way never before possible. The dedication is well deserved.
