A Classic Is Ending

IllumiNations ells the Story of Earth

Walt Disney World has announced that a classic nighttime show is ending. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth began its official Epcot run on October 1, 1999. The good news is that you don’t have to rush to Central Florida to see it one more time. According to Disney Parks Blog, it will continue until “the end of summer 2019”. It will be replaced by another fireworks show. No additional details have been released about the replacement.

The long running show is ending

The news is not a surprise. The cancellation of IllumiNations has been a subject of rumor for a couple of years now. Back in July I told you about some electrical updates that will be taking place in World Showcase Lagoon. I don’t know if the updates are related to whatever it is that Disney has planned for the new show. All I know is that there is very little chance that we will be disappointed. I miss Wishes at the Magic Kingdom just as much as anyone, but I am totally in awe whenever I watch Happily Ever After. I have a feeling that this will be magnificent as well.

There are exciting changes taking place at Epcot!

A new end of the night fireworks display is the latest piece of the puzzle that is changing the face of Epcot. With a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster in the works and a ride based on Ratatouille being built in the France Pavilion, the future of Epcot looks bright. Don’t forget that a new full service restaurant is being built next to Mission: SPACE that will create an out of this world dining experience. As much as I love IllumiNations, I think that a new nighttime fireworks show will be a welcome upgrade. I’m excited about Epcot’s future.
