A lot has been said about Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land. That is one of two new rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The second new ride is Alien Swirling Saucers.
The Little Green Aliens from the Space Crane game at Pizza Planet are the star of this ride. In case you don’t remember, it’s one of those games where the user will drop in a coin and move the claw to try to get a prize. In this case, the prizes were the aliens, and The Claw was their master who decided “who would go and who would stay”. For the ride, you’ll climb into a ride vehicle behind one of the aliens, and join them on their adventure as they hope to be picked.
Alien Swirling Saucers is very similar to a teacup ride. The track is pretty much the same, where you’ll be on a small circle but also be moved across into a larger circle. Unlike most teacup rides, you can’t spin the vehicle, but that’s not a bad thing. Because you’re behind an alien the car has a wide range of motion, and you’ll move around from side to side quite a bit.
If you’re looking for a smooth ride, Alien Swirling Saucers isn’t it. It’s jerky, and that’s part of the fun. Guest must be at least 32 inches tall in order to ride. There’s one seat belt per car, and you’ll stretch it across everyone. Each car holds up to two adults and one child. If you can’t get FastPass+ for Slinky Dog Dash, try to grab this one instead. It’s often available at the 30 day mark if you try first thing in the morning.
