There’s no arguing that a Walt Disney World vacation (or an Orlando vacation in general) can be chaotic. That’s why I recommend taking a day off in the middle of your vacation, if time allows it. Sleep in, lounge by the pool, then maybe resort hop. Or, leave the Disney Bubble to try something different.

If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and maybe some adventure, think about visiting Lake Louisa State Park on your day off. It’s located 30 minutes or so outside of Walt Disney World, but you’ll feel like you’re much farther away!

Lake Louisa State Park has miles of hiking trails. They’re easy trails, so you’ll get your steps in without exhausting yourself. There’s a beautiful beach on the lake. Sign up for horseback riding or rent a kayak. Rent a bike, or sign up for the Guided Segway Tour. Pack a picnic and enjoy a quiet meal. Keep your eyes open for wildlife!

If you’re a camper, there are both RV and tent sites. Those sites go fast, so if you see that something is open, you’ll want to reserve it immediately!

Another nice thing about Lake Louisa State Park is that it won’t break the bank. A carload of up to eight people is only $5! (Rentals and some activities cost extra.) Lake Louisa State Park is open from 8:00 until sundown all year long. The address is 7305 U.S. Highway 27 Clermont FL 34714. Lake Louisa State Park could be what you need to recharge before another busy theme park day.
