Three New Star Wars Movies Announced!

Star Wars Celebration Europe is currently taking place in London, and will run through Monday. I’m not there, but I’ve enjoyed watching the first day of the livestream. Not all of the panels will be seen around the world, but I’m doing my best to keep up with the news and information!

There is one gigantic piece of news that was announced on the first day. Three more Star Wars films are in the works! Here are the details (what few have been released so far) from StarWars.com.

SWCE 2023: Three New Star Wars Movies Announced

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed new films from James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Today during Lucasfilm‘s Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced that three new live-action Star Wars films are on the way. Helming the movies are James Mangold (LoganIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Dave Filoni (The MandalorianAhsoka), and Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. MarvelSaving Face).

James Mangold’s movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi, while Dave Filoni’s will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The MandalorianThe Book of Boba FettAhsoka, and other Disney+ series. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s film will be set after the events of Rise of Skywalker, and feature Daisy Ridley back as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.
