I have good news for anyone who is planning on spending time at Disneyland during Star Wars Celebration in May. Hyperspace Mountain is returning! Space Mountain will be closed on April 28 so that Cast Members can add the overlay. On April 29, it will reopen as Hyperspace Mountain. It will remain that way “for a limited time”.
Hyperspace Mountain doesn’t change the ride, it’s not a refurbishment. It’s just some added background elements, to make it feel as if you’re in the middle of a battle. The lines used have been redubbed. Diehard Star Wars fans will notice that they aren’t the voices of the original actors, but most people won’t know. The overlay is a lot of fun.
When Walt Disney World fans ask me for advice on Disneyland, my top tip is to ride Space Mountain! While there are similarities, it’s a different ride than you’ll find in Florida. I love Walt Disney World, but I’ll take the California version of Space Mountain any day! It’s at the top of my must-do list every trip.
The final Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite will take place at Disneyland on May 27. Tickets are sold out, but I have mine! I can’t wait to ride Hyperspace Mountain with fans who are enjoying the overlay as much as I will be. I’ll be adding pictures to the Disney Over 50 Facebook and Instagram accounts, so follow along. Please Like or Follow both accounts if you haven’t already!
Star Wars Celebration will take place May 26-29 at the Anaheim Convention Center. There are still adult tickets available for all days except for Saturday, and children’s tickets for all days. The first round of celebrity guests was announced a few days ago. There will be plenty more.
