A few nights ago, my daughter and I had a very scary experience. We were about to leave the Orange Garage at Disney Springs. I always try to park on the second level, because that is the level for security and to leave the structure. We drove to the down-ramp so that we could leave the level, and were almost hit by a car coming up the one-way ramp! Not only was the driver going the wrong way, when he turned onto the second level it was a wide turn, and even though I was pulled back he almost hit me. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had left a few moments earlier and met the car on the ramp instead. It would have been a head-on collision.
I was back in the same garage a few days later. There are signs everywhere to let drivers know that the ramps are one-way. The driver who almost hit me ignored at least four warnings when he turned the wrong way.
This isn’t the only time that I’ve almost been hit in one of the parking garages at Disney Springs, but this was the most serious infraction. Other times it’s been because someone was driving the wrong way down a row of cars. The direction of the rows is also clearly marked.
In the parking garages at Disney Springs, backing into a spot is not allowed. You also cannot pull through. This is because your car will be facing in the wrong direction with either of these practices. I have never seen anyone ticketed for having a car that’s facing the wrong direction, but I have seen warnings on cars. (One evening there were several of the warnings thrown on the ground, but littering is a different topic.)
So please, pay attention and be careful. Look for and follow the signs, and watch for other drivers who are not paying attention. No one wants to be involved in an accident in a parking garage!
