Does Super Bowl Sunday Really Bring Lower Crowds?

Will Super Bowl Sunday look like this?

This coming Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday. There is a theory that the Super Bowl keeps crowds away, but is that true? My daughter and I have a Super Bowl Sunday tradition of hitting a Walt Disney World park in the late afternoon. Here is our experience.

When we first started our tradition, we went to Epcot. We did that a couple of years in a row. The park cleared out, and Wait Times were low. It was nice.

Then we tried the Magic Kingdom one year. We arrived in the late afternoon. The monorail to the park was empty, while the monorail from the Magic Kingdom was packed. Wait Times were low, but there was also a light rain and that could be part of the reason.

We also tried Disney’s Hollywood Studios one year. That year, I didn’t see any difference in the crowd level. The park was packed, and people didn’t seem to leave close to game time

We have never visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Super Bowl Sunday. Since the park closes early, we’d make it home for the second half of the game.

This year we’re trying Disney’s Hollywood Studios again. We figure it’s worth a second chance, since last time it was just months after Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened. I’ll let you know how it goes.
