The Disney Dream was supposed to sail a test cruise out of Port Canaveral tomorrow (June 29) but it has been delayed. No new date for the sailing has yet been announced.
According to local station WKMG, the cruise has been postponed due to “inconsistent COVID-19 test results”. Five of the 600 crew members tested positive for COVID-19, although none showed symptoms. They were retested the next day and the results were negative. False results have been common with COVID testing, which is most likely why a second test was run. All five crew members are fully vaccinated.
The delay shows how seriously Disney Cruise Line is taking the precautions that have been set in place. While I really want cruising to return, I want it to be done as safely as possible. If I hear more about when the test cruise is rescheduled for, I’ll let you know.
