Conventions are an exciting way to allow fans of various genres to live out their fantasies. Whether you’re meeting a favorite actor, dressing up as a character, learning more about a franchise, or hanging out with other fans, they are great fun. Unfortunately, now is not the time to be in a crowd. That’s why I’m sad to share news about two Florida conventions that were to be held this summer.
The first is MEGACON Orlando. This year’s convention was originally scheduled to be held in April, then it was pushed back to June. That is not going to happen either. The good news is that MEGACON is not giving up on 2020. Instead of totally canceling, they have scheduled MEGACON Orlando: Limited Edition. This is scheduled for October 30-November 1, 2020. MEGACON Orlando: Limited Edition is drastically reducing tickets to 25,000. If that sounds like a huge number, MEGACON normally draws over 100,000 fans. The next full MEGACON Orlando is now scheduled for March 18-21, 2021.
The bit of second convention news is regarding Florida Supercon in Miami. This one was originally supposed to take place in May, and then it was moved to the Fourth of July Weekend. This one is just canceled, they are not going to try something later this year. According to the website, it will be back in 2021, but no dates have been given.
