It’s hard to believe that the 4th of July is right around the corner. It’s seems like just yesterday that I was talking about Christmas! Independence Day is one of the busiest days of the year at Walt Disney World, but that doesn’t mean that you should stay away! If you plan to hit a theme park, arrive early, because the parks do sometimes reach one of the levels of capacity on the 4th of July. If you’re looking for fireworks, here is when and where you can find them.
At the Magic Kingdom Happily Ever After will not run on either July 3 or 4. Instead, you can enjoy Disney’s Celebrate America Fireworks. It will be held at 9:15 both evening. If you’re at the Magic Kingdom for the 4th of July, remember that the Flag Retreat is held at 5:00 in the front of the park. It’s a beautiful ceremony.
At Epcot, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will take place at 9:00 on Independence Day. There will be a special overture called Heartbeat of Freedom. This will be your last chance to experience IllumiNations on the 4th of July, since the show’s final performance will be held on September 30. Epcot is a great place to spend the holiday, since the Voices of Liberty will have three special performances in the America Gardens Theater. Those will be held at 5:30, 6:45, and 8:00.
The final park where you can see fireworks at Walt Disney World is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular may not be the most patriotic fireworks display around, but it is still pretty impressive. The show will run at 10:00. There are no fireworks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Remember, fireworks are held weather permitting. If the weather is bad, Disney will wait as long as possible before cancelling. No one wants to cancel fireworks on the 4th of July.
