Sunday Savings Series: Splurge!

If you want the Brownie Martini Sundae to be your splurge, head to Planet Hollywood

On Sundays I like to talk about ways to save money. Today, I’m going to do the opposite. I’m going to encourage you to splurge while at Walt Disney World. There is, of course, a catch.

You do not want to leave Walt Disney World feeling deprived. You also don’t want to leave feeling broke. What you need to do is to find a happy medium between the two. Plan for at least one splurge on your vacation. It can be a special dinner, a fun but frivolous souvenir, a tour, dessert, Disney Afer Hours; whatever makes you happy, and whatever you can easily fit into your vacation budget.

I’m not saying that you need to go over the top when you splurge. You don’t have to book dinner at Victoria & Albert’s for your splurge, dinner at Rainforest Cafe if you’ve been living off of peanut butter sandwiches could do the trick. Just make sure that it is something that will be special to you.

One other thing that I would suggest is that you save the splurge until the end of your vacation. It’s going to be easier to skip the Mickey earrings if you plan on buying a Pandora bracelet on the last day of your trip. Saving the splurge until the last day will give you something to look forward to.

The splurge doesn’t even have to be expensive. Dole Whip or a Mickey Pretzel can be fun to savor on your last day, and neither one costs a lot. Whatever the splurge is, just make sure that it is special to you.

A Walt Disney World vacation does not need to be over the top expensive in order to be special. You don’t have to buy everything that you see, and you can save money by staying off property and bringing food into the parks. Just make sure that you plan for one special splurge while you’re here. You deserve it.
