The Orlando Sentinel was given a sneak peek at the Disney Skyliner, with some new information. You can read the full article here. I thought I’d give you a few of the highlights.
We still do not have a date on when guests will start riding in the Disney Skyliner. It is expected that Disney Cast Members will start test riding in them in August. The tests will run around the clock.
Each of the 300 gondolas has two wooden benches, and they seat up to ten people. You will ride up to 60 feet in the air. You will travel at a speed of 11 miles per hour. The gondolas will be constantly moving when pulling into a station, but they can be paused for someone who needs special assistance, wheelchairs, and slower passengers. Each ride will last between five and 15 minutes.
There are eight colors total, and 22 different character themes. Not all of the gondolas will have characters on the outside, some will be plain. If you’re worried about the lack of air conditioning, don’t be. Disney promises that the ride will be comfortable, and that the gondolas were designed with the Florida heat in mind.
When more information becomes available on the Disney Skyliner, I’ll let you know. More gondolas have been spotted in different areas, which means that we are getting closer!
