If you’re looking for something Christmas-y outside of Walt Disney World, consider making the drive to Tampa. That’s where you’ll find Christmas Town. You can enjoy the rides (including some insane coasters) during the day, and then be wowed by the decorations once the sun goes down. It’s a little over an hour from Walt Disney World, unless there’s traffic.
There are plenty of extras for Christmas Town. They include Christmas Town Village, several special shows (including ice skating and Elmo), and lots of lights. The highlight of Christmas Town could be Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland. You can take pictures with several characters from the holiday classic. This will be the longest line of the night. Santa and some elves are also ready for pictures at Santa’s House.
I’ve been to Christmas Town in Tampa a couple of times, and I love it. I’m hoping to make it again this year. I’ve found that the crowds are doable, especially in the middle of the week. Christmas Town is included with your theme park admission, and it runs daily through the end of the year.
One extra tip, if you’ll be in Central Florida and don’t have New Year’s Eve plans, you might want to consider Busch Gardens. That’s where my family and I welcomed 2018, and it was a lot of fun. We got to experience Christmas Town, and there was a fantastic fireworks display at midnight. It wasn’t as crazy as Walt Disney World on New Year’s Eve, but it was still quite the celebration.
