From time to time special ticketed events take place at Walt Disney World. The park in question will be closed to the general public during the event, and only those with tickets will be allowed to attend. There are two special evening events that take place at the Magic Kingdom each year. One is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the other is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. If your vacation will take place when one of the parties is going on, you might want to seriously consider going, because both are a lot of fun.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is of course the first of the two events. Traditionally it takes place on select evenings and runs from 7:00pm until midnight. The schedule for 2018 is found below. Even though the party doesn’t start until 7:00, you can enter with your ticket at 4:00pm.
There are a few things that make Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party special. Guests of all ages can dress up in costume, that is not just for the kids. Keep in mind that masks are not allowed. The costume guidelines can be found on the Walt Disney World website.
Another reason why people love Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the special characters. You will be able to see characters who are not always found in the parks, and others who will be dressed in their Halloween costumes. One of the best meet and greets features all seven dwarfs. Characters are marked on the party map, and the lines can grow quite long.
At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, trick or treating is for all ages. There are specially marked Trick or Treat Stations, and you will end up with A LOT of candy. If you have special dietary needs there are allergy friendly choices. You’ll be given a special bag, and then tokens that you can later trade in for treats that you can safely enjoy.
There is plenty of special entertainment at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is a show that takes place several times each party on the stage in front of Cinderella Castle. The Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet performs songs such as Cruella DeVil, Ghost Riders In The Sky, and Grim Grinning Ghosts in perfect harmony. Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade features lots of your favorite characters and is arguably the spookiest part of the evening. Happy HalloWishes is a spectacular fireworks demonstration that fits the party perfectly.
Another reason why Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is popular is because the most popular rides are open, and the Wait Times are significantly shorter. FastPass+ is not accepted, which puts everyone on equal footing.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is held rain or shine, although in 2016 and 2017 some dates were canceled because of hurricanes. (Those with tickets were given other options, including another night or a refund.) If you are going to attend, remember that the parties are held during the rainy season, and plan accordingly. You can still have fun if it rains, so don’t let the chance of storms keep you away. One other thing to keep in mind, the parties that are closer to Halloween will often sell out, so if that is when you’ll be attending do not put off buying your tickets.
Tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are currently available by calling 407-939-1872. They will eventually also be available for sale on the Walt Disney World website.
