When Walt Disney World reopened, there were plenty of changes. One of those changes was that FastPass+ would no longer be used, at least for the time being. The crowds have picked up a bit, does that mean that it’s time to bring the service back?
At the moment, I don’t miss FastPass+. I like the flexibility that not using the service allows me to have. I don’t like being tied down to a time and knowing that I will still be waiting in a line. It might be a shorter line, but FastPass+ has never guaranteed that you would be able to walk right on.
That said, the lines for the more popular rides such as Flight of Passage have grown quite a bit over the past few weeks. This is especially true on the weekends. Many people think that offering FastPass+ for the rides that have longer lines would be a good idea right now.
I still think that FastPass+ should not be used under the current conditions. This is just my opinion, I haven’t heard anything about how long things might remain this way. The reason why I think that things need to stay the way that they are is for crowd control. If there’s a 40 minute line for Slinky Dog Dash, those people aren’t wandering around the park. That keeps people out of the other parts of the park, which keeps the crowds lower.
I don’t like waiting in a long line any more than anyone else does. But even when the Wait Times are longer, I haven’t had a problem doing everything that I want to do. I can still live without FastPass+, at least until we no longer need to think about social distancing. If waiting in a line will help to keep crowds from gathering in other places, I’ll wait.
