My Review of Anaheim Harbor RV Park

Anaheim Harbor RV Park

Recently I shared with you about my family’s whirlwind RV trip across the country. It certainly was a dream come true! Part of that trip was four nights in Anaheim, California. We stayed at Anaheim Harbor RV Park. I thought I’d share my review.

We stayed at a dozen campgrounds on our trip. Anaheim Harbor RV Park was by far our least favorite. It’s the only one that we said we don’t want to stay at again.

I’ll start with the good points. Anaheim Harbor RV Park is the closest campground to Disneyland. It’s about a mile walk, and since we’re avid walkers that wasn’t a problem for us. Another plus is that it’s close enough to Disneyland that you can watch the fireworks. While Yoda, our dog, wasn’t thrilled with that, I enjoyed it!

When we arrived we were told that we had been given an “upgrade” site. I think that the upgrade was that we weren’t right next to the road. The problem with the new site was that there was a tree right next to the side door. Every time one of us went in or out…bam!

The campsites at Anaheim Harbor RV Park are very close together. That’s okay, they’re trying to be able to fit as many vehicles in as possible. The sites are also back-in. That wasn’t an issue at other campgrounds, but that tree made it difficult. It took us a long time to park.

Once we finally had the RV in place, we tried to hook up the electricity. We couldn’t, because there was damage to the electric box. My husband went to the office to ask what we should do, and we were told that maintenance was gone for the day. There was no one in the site next to ours so we plugged in there. The staff told us that was okay, since the maintenance guy wouldn’t be back until the next day. I’m not sure what we would have done if that site hadn’t been empty.

The next morning the maintenance guy did fix it. But they never told us. We had to stop by the office to find out if it was safe to plug in on our site instead of the one next to us.

The other campgrounds that we stayed at were all very clean. I can’t say the same thing about Anaheim Harbor RV Park. There was food and trash all over the place! Food on the ground also meant ants, many of which decided to make their new homes in our RV. We were still finding ants several days after we left.

There’s another thing to keep in mind if you stay at Anaheim Harbor RV Park. The electric, water, and sewer are all in the back, behind your camper. The electric and water both reached, but the sewer didn’t. The front office sold us an extension hose, but it wasn’t compatible with our system. No refunds, of course. We had to unhook and drive to the campground’s main dump station, and then back into our spot again. The whole process took probably an hour, because the spot was so hard to get into.

We weren’t expecting luxury at Anaheim Harbor RV Park. We knew that it was basic, and we were okay with that. We were in town for Disneyland and D23, not to enjoy a cookout and a campfire. Could it have been worse? Yes. Still, I doubt that we’ll be back. The next time we drive to California we will most likely stay a little further out and either rent a car or Uber to Disneyland. I think that would be less stressful than the door banging against the tree all day long.
