Starting on April 18, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will no longer need a Disney Park Pass Reservation if they don’t enter a theme park until 2:00. The Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays will be an exception. Disney Park Pass Reservations will still be needed if entering any park before 2:00, the new regulation won’t affect that. But are more changes on the way? There have been a couple of things lately that make me wonder if Disney is considering it.
The first thing that makes me wonder is that Walt Disney World has been adding a lot of Bonus Reservations lately. With a Bonus Reservation, an Annual Passholder can grab a spot without having it count toward the allotted total. Annual Passholders can currently hold no more than five Disney Park Pass Reservations at a time, and some Florida Resident Passes are less than that. Bonus Reservations are for a specific park, and don’t count toward the total. They’re usually added just a few days before. As I write this, there are Bonus Reservations available each weekday this week. That means that Annual Passholders can hit a park, even if they already have a full slot of reservations.
The other thing that makes me wonder if changes are on the way is that a survey was sent to some Annual Passholders. From what I’ve been told, a lot of the questions centered around the Disney Park Pass Reservation system. Some of the questions were about the ease of use, but others were about overall satisfaction. This doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but if Disney is asking, there has to be a reason.
There have been a lot of unhappy Annual Passholders lately, many of them are local. I’ll admit that it’s frustrating to be stuck with a limited number of Disney Park Pass Reservations. There are a couple of dates right now that I know I want to visit a theme park, but I’m not making a reservation because I don’t want it to count toward the total too far in advance. I, for one, hope that more changes are made to the requirements.
