Instead of giving ways to save money like I normally do on Sundays, I thought that this week I’d mention a couple of ways to protect your money. This information is good for not only your Walt Disney World vacation, but anytime that you travel.
Sometimes when you’re in a hotel room, you might find a pizza flyer under your door. Sounds easy and convenient when you’re hungry, and if it’s in your room it must be legit, right? Not so fast. That flyer could have been printed and placed under your door by someone who is hoping that you’ll call, and then they will have your credit card number. Many hotels will have information in your room on places that you can order food from, that’s a better option. If you aren’t sure if it’s real, ask at the front desk.
Another scam to steal your credit card number is that you will receive a call from someone claiming to be at the front desk. The person will state that there was a problem with your card, but they can fix it over the phone if you give your number again. I know several people who have had someone try to scam them this way, including on Walt Disney World property. This happened to my husband on a business trip once. He said he would just go to the front desk to straighten it out. The caller said the line at the desk was long, so giving the number would save him time. My husband hung up and walked to the lobby. There was no line. There was also no problem with his card, just as he had suspected.
A third way to protect your information I’ve mentioned before. Use an RDIF blocking wallet or sleeves to hold your credit and debit cards. A thief with a card reader only needs to get close to your bag or wallet to be able to steal your information! An RDIF blocker is the best way to keep your information safe.
We all like to think that nothing bad will ever happen at Walt Disney World, but unfortunately, that just isn’t the case. A place like Disney is a gold mine for thieves, because they know it isn’t cheap to visit! Many guests will let down their guard. These are a few ways to help keep your information safe. Use your head, and don’t trust anyone who is randomly trying to get your information.
